Common Rooftop Unit Problems

Rooftop units fail in predictable ways. Watch for:

Not cooling, not heating or running constantly
Compressor or condenser fan failures
Economizer faults and stuck outdoor air dampers

When an RTU Should Be Replaced

Replacement makes sense when repair costs climb, compressors fail on older units, or refrigerant availability and the industry transition to lower-GWP refrigerants make repairs harder to justify.
